What We Achieve

Five smiling women pose in front of a red DKMS booth, holding oversized cotton swabs and a blue speech bubble sign that reads 'Love Life. Fuck Cancer.' They are wearing casual outfits and have glitter on their faces, creating a fun atmosphere.

Saving lives is at the heart of our organization

Our mission is to save as many lives as possible. Since DKMS was founded in 1991, we have given more than 120,000 second chances at life to patients with blood cancer or blood disorders. With over 12.5 million people currently registered as potential lifesavers in our diverse database, we give as many people as possible a second chance at life through stem cells.

At the same time, we see that in many countries there is hardly any access to treatment and transplantation, mostly due to financial burdens, but also due to a lack of sufficient infrastructure. That is why we have launched our Access to Transplantation Programs in low- and middle-income countries, where we collaborate with local NGOs.

A cheerful group of nine DKMS employees poses in front of a red DKMS registration tent with their arms raised and big smiles. They are wearing red DKMS shirts and vests, and the tent reads 'Regístrate en dkms.cl,' promoting donor registration in Chile. The atmosphere is energetic and joyful.

Furthermore, we continuously strive to improve patient outcomes of stem cell transplantations with our efforts in Research & Development.

The only way to guarantee a long-lasting impact is through the passionate dedication and hard work of our colleagues worldwide, the crucial partnerships we foster with international organizations and scientists and, most importantly, the commitment of our millions of stem cell donors who are selflessly ready to step in and save a stranger's life.

Our Three Pillars
Our efforts to give as many blood cancer patients as possible a second chance at life are based on three pillars.
